Sanding and feeding a large lawn by hand or with a shovel takes a long time and leaves an uneven layer. A self-propelled top dresser spreads sand, fertiliser and other soil improvers in an even layer that you can adjust. This section offers the Jansen TD-325 for home lawns, sports pitches, golf courses and green spaces.
What to look for
- Hopper capacity: the bigger it is, the less often you refill. The TD-325 holds about 325 litres.
- Drive: pushing a full hopper by hand is hard work. The TD-325 is self-propelled, up to 6 km/h forward and 2 km/h in reverse.
- Adjustment: you set spreading width and thickness for the job, for example a thin layer of sand after aeration or a thicker layer of top soil.
- Material: the machine spreads granules up to 6 mm. Coarse gravel or wet lumps will not work.
- Terrain: the maximum slope is 25°. Follow the manual when working on slopes.

Practical tips
Spreading only works while driving forward; reverse is for manoeuvring. Top-dressing sand should be dry and screened, as damp sand clumps in the hopper. When sanding, aerate the lawn first and then spread a thin layer. Bring sand or soil to the lawn with a tracked dumper, and prepare the ground for a new lawn with a rotary tiller. Like other Jansen machines, the TD-325 arrives partly assembled and you do the final assembly yourself. Check and top up the engine oil before the first start.
