Petrol water pumps and pumps for two-wheel tractors
A motor pump is a water pump with its own combustion engine, so it works where there is no mains power: at a pond, ditch or well, in a flooded cellar or out in the field. This section has WEIMA pumps for clean water, dirty water and pressure irrigation, one diesel pump, and two Grünwelt pumps driven by a two-wheel tractor.
How to choose a water pump
- Type of water. Pumps for clean and slightly dirty water pass solids of 3–8 mm. For water with sand and silt, for example after a flood, choose the WEIMA 80-26 dirty water pump, which handles solids up to 30 mm.
- Flow rate. Given in m³/h or l/min. 27–36 m³/h is enough to water a garden; 60–120 m³/h helps when emptying a pond or an excavation.
- Delivery head. This tells you how high the pump can push water. Most models reach 20–30 m. Sprinklers and drip lines on a large plot need more pressure, which is what the high-pressure WEIMA 65-55 with up to 50 m head is for.
- Suction lift. Place the pump as close to the water surface as possible. According to the manufacturer's descriptions, WEIMA models draw water from 5–7 m depending on the model.
- Port diameter. 40 or 50 mm suits garden hoses and small flows; 80 and 100 mm move large volumes quickly.

Petrol, diesel or a tractor-driven pump?
WEIMA petrol pumps have Euro 5 four-stroke OHV engines and suit seasonal jobs: watering, emptying a garden pond or a cellar after heavy rain. The WEIMA 100-30E has the WM186FBE diesel engine and a 5.5 l tank, so it is built for long runs with large volumes of water, for example on a farm or when draining land.
If you already own a two-wheel tractor, an attached pump is the cheaper route. The Grünwelt GW-WP900 is driven by a V-belt and, according to the manufacturer, fits the WEIMA WM900M-3 and other belt-driven tractors. The GW-WP1100 mounts on the power take-off of WEIMA WM1100-6 series tractors. Both have a cast iron impeller and an aluminium housing. More equipment is in attached pumps, and the machines are in two-wheel tractors.
First start and common mistakes
- The pumps arrive with no oil in the engine. Before starting, add oil and fill the pump housing with water through the priming port. Running dry destroys the seal, and skipping these steps can void the warranty.
- Always fit the strainer from the kit to the end of the suction hose. A clean water pump is not meant for sludge.
- The suction hose must be rigid and airtight. A leaking joint draws in air and the pump loses flow.
- The two conical hose adapters in the kit let you connect hoses of different diameters.
Frequently asked questions
Which pump should I use for a flooded cellar?
For water with silt and sand, the WEIMA 80-26 dirty water pump is the best fit: it passes solids up to 30 mm and moves up to 78 m³/h.
Which pump for drip irrigation?
The WEIMA 65-55. It is a high-pressure model with up to 50 m head, intended among other things for supplying drip lines on farmland.
How much water does the smallest pump move?
The WEIMA 40-20 with a 2 HP engine moves up to 27 m³/h, about 450 l/min, and weighs 13 kg. That is enough to water a garden from a barrel, pond or well.
Will a Grünwelt pump fit my tractor?
The GW-WP900 is for belt-driven tractors such as the WEIMA WM900M-3. The GW-WP1100 is for WEIMA WM1100-6 series tractors with PTO. For another model, give us a call and we will check the mounting.
