This section covers Jansen machines for earthworks on a plot, a farm or a small building site: two petrol tracked mini excavators (MB-500 and MB-800), the KL-200 tracked stand-on compact loader and BHSM backhoes that mount on a tractor's three-point hitch. Next to the machines you will find extra buckets, grabs, forks and blades, including attachments for the Jansen HL-500E wheel loader.
How to choose an earthmoving machine
- Type of work: trenches, foundation pits and post holes need an excavator. Moving soil, gravel, pallets and bales is a job for a loader with interchangeable attachments.
- Your own tractor or a separate machine: if you have a tractor with a PTO and a Cat. I or Cat. II hitch, a BHSM backhoe runs off its drive. Without a tractor, go for a self-propelled MB mini excavator.
- Digging depth: the MB-500 digs to about 120 cm, the MB-800 to 131 cm, the BHSM-175 to more than 175 cm and the BHSM-225 to 225 cm. For drainage and cables an MB is usually enough; deeper pits are easier with a backhoe.
- Width and weight: the MB-500 is 70 cm wide without mirrors and fits through a standard door. The MB-800 is about 73–76 cm. For trailer transport, weight matters: 562 kg (MB-500), 730 kg (KL-200), 790 kg (MB-800).
- Attachments: check what is included and what you can add. The MB-800 comes with three buckets (150, 250 and 500 mm) and has an auxiliary hydraulic circuit on the boom, for example for the Jansen HBG-1500 auger.

Attachments for mini excavators and loaders
- MB-800: hydraulic tilting bucket, hydraulic rotating rake, thumb for gripping stones and branches, adapter for the HBG-1500 and HBG-2000 augers.
- MB-500: narrow 200 mm bucket for cable trenches and an optional roof.
- KL-200: grapple bucket (50 cm opening), bale spear, pallet forks and a hydraulic levelling blade 84–165 cm wide.
- HL-500E: 4-in-1 bucket, high-tip bucket, bale grab, bale spear and pallet forks.
Attachments are matched to specific Jansen models, so check the description to see which machine they fit. For post holes see our earth augers, and haul away the spoil with a Jansen tracked dumper.
Delivery and first start-up
Jansen machines arrive partly disassembled in a steel frame or crate, and you do the final assembly yourself. Jansen quotes about 2 hours for the MB-500 and about 1.5 hours for the BHSM-175, ideally with two people. Before the first start, check and top up the engine oil (10W40 or 15W40) and HLP46 hydraulic oil. The manual is in German.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the MB-500 and the MB-800?
The MB-500 is narrower (70 cm) and lighter (562 kg), has an 8.5 HP engine and digs to about 120 cm. The MB-800 weighs 790 kg, has a 9.5 HP Kohler engine, digs to 131 cm, comes with three buckets and has an auxiliary hydraulic circuit for an auger.
What tractor do I need for a BHSM backhoe?
A tractor with a Cat. I or Cat. II three-point hitch and a 540 rpm PTO. The PTO shaft is included. The BHSM-225 weighs 840 kg, so the tractor must be able to lift that weight safely at the rear.
What is the KL-200 compact loader used for?
Moving soil and gravel, stacking pallets, carrying bales and levelling ground. The operator stands on a rear platform, and the tracked undercarriage gives a ground pressure of 32 kPa.
Will a mini excavator fit in a van?
Jansen states that the MB-500 and MB-800 can be carried on a trailer or in a suitable van. Check the vehicle's payload: the machines weigh 562 and 790 kg.
What warranty do I get?
The machines come with a 24-month warranty. We give phone advice in Polish, Ukrainian and Russian: +48 780 140 444.
