Jansen is a German brand of machines for the garden, orchard and farm. Motohill offers Jansen branch chippers of two types: drum chippers with their own petrol engine, and disc chippers driven from a tractor PTO. This page has 10 chippers, the FMB-180 hydraulic hedge cutter bar and a knife set for the GTS-1500E. For the full overview of shredders, including WEIMA and tractor-mounted units, see shredders and chippers, and for the brand itself the Jansen page.
Two types of Jansen chippers: self-powered and tractor-driven
The first group (GTS) has its own petrol engine and does not depend on a tractor: you set it up next to a pile of branches in the garden (the GTS-5000H also has a three-point hitch). The second group (BX and JX) has no engine; drive comes from the tractor PTO (540 rpm) through a three-point hitch. The tractor also supplies the feed: on the RS models it is hydraulic, on the BX-42S manual.

How to choose a Jansen chipper
Branch thickness
For branches up to 10 cm a GTS or BX-42 is enough. Up to 16 cm it is the BX-62RS and JX-72RS, up to 25 cm the BX-92RS. The diameters are maximums, so leave a margin for hard wood. More on choosing in our guide how to choose a branch chipper.
Tractor or petrol engine
No tractor with a PTO and hydraulics? Choose a GTS with its own engine. Own a 30–70 hp tractor and plenty of material (orchard, forest, roadsides)? A BX or JX pays off, since they use the tractor's power. Check the minimum tractor power in the table and on the BX-62RS page.
Tractor hydraulics
The RS models need an oil flow of at least 10 l/min from the tractor. Without it choose the BX-42S with manual feed.
Accessories
Spare knives for the GTS-1500E are available (set of 2, 300 × 55 × 7 mm), and the FMB-180 hydraulic hedge bar works with a tractor that has its own hydraulics (flow from 15 l/min). For the GTS-1500E see the Jansen GTS-1500E page.
Delivery and first start
Jansen machines arrive partly disassembled in a crate; you assemble them yourself. Some models are supplied without oil, so before the first start check and top up the oil (in the engine, and on the GTS-5000H also in the hydraulic system).
Frequently asked questions
Drum or disc chipper?
In this range the drum chippers (GTS) are self-powered machines for the garden, while the disc chippers (BX, JX) are for a tractor and thicker branches. The choice depends on whether you have a tractor with a PTO.
What tractor do I need for the BX-62RS?
At least 30 hp, with a 540 rpm PTO, a category I three-point hitch and hydraulic flow of 10 l/min or more.
Can I order a chipper for delivery to another country?
Delivery to other EU countries is possible; cost and time are confirmed when you order.
