WEIMA chippers are machines with their own petrol engine that turn branches from pruning trees and shrubs into wood chips. You do not need a tractor: you only need access to where the branches are. This page has four chippers (WMS101, WMS304, WMS305, WMS306) plus knives and a knife drum for the WMS series. For a wide overview of chippers from other brands see shredders and chippers, and for the rest of the maker's range the WEIMA section.
How WEIMA chippers differ
- WMS101 – the smallest, 40 kg, branches up to 50 mm, 7 hp engine. For a small garden.
- WMS304 and WMS305 – drum chippers with a 7 hp engine (WM170F-S), branches up to 60 mm. The WMS305 has a drawbar and larger 5.00–9" wheels.
- WMS306 – the largest, WM192F 18 hp engine, branches up to 100 mm, 125 kg (net).

How to choose a WEIMA chipper
Branch thickness and engine
The maximum diameter on the product page is a limit, not a working value. For branches up to 5–6 cm, 7 hp is enough (WMS101, WMS304, WMS305). If after the season you have plenty of branches 8–10 cm thick, choose the WMS306. General selection rules are in our guide how to choose a branch chipper.
Weight and transport
The WMS101 (40 kg) can be carried by two people; the WMS305 and WMS306 have a drawbar and wheels, so moving them around the yard is easier. Wheel sizes: 8" (WMS101), 5.00–9" (WMS305, WMS306), 3.50–6" (WMS304).
Replacing the knives
Knives wear and go blunt. We offer sets of 2 for the WMS series: for the WMS305 (155 × 55 × 7 mm), for the WMS306 (195 × 55 × 7 mm) and for the WMS301, as well as the WMS301 knife drum (350 × 250 × 250 mm, 13.5 kg). Before ordering, check the blade size on your chipper's page.
WEIMA drum or Jansen disc chipper
If your branches are thicker than 10 cm or you have a tractor with a PTO, see the Jansen page, which has chippers up to 25 cm.
Before the first start
The engine runs on 95 petrol. It needs 0.6 l of engine oil (WMS101, WMS304, WMS305) or 1.1 l (WMS306, SAE 10W-30). Check the level before starting.
Frequently asked questions
What branches will the WMS305 shred?
Up to 60 mm in diameter according to the product page. Thinner branches (up to 3–4 cm) go faster and without overloading the engine.
Do I need a tractor for a WEIMA chipper?
No, all four have their own petrol engine.
Are WEIMA knives interchangeable between models?
Do not assume so. The sizes differ (for example 155 × 55 mm on the WMS305 and 195 × 55 mm on the WMS306), so choose the set for your model.
