For home garden trimming, a smaller disc model is enough, e.g. the Jansen BX series (BX-42S/BX-42RS), or the drum-type Jansen GTS-1500E — compact machines that handle branches from hedge and fruit tree pruning without needing a tractor.

What's the difference between a drum and a disc chipper?

A drum chipper (e.g. Jansen GTS or Weima WMS305) has a rotating drum with blades — it handles thicker, harder branches well and runs slower but smoother. A disc chipper (Jansen BX/JX) cuts faster and more efficiently through larger volumes of thinner branches.

What engine does a large branch chipper have?

Larger models, like the Jansen GTS-13, run on 13-15 HP petrol engines — enough for continuous work with thick branches. Towed versions (e.g. Grünwelt GW-S312E) can be pulled by car or tractor between properties.
