Jansen TBG-200: earth auger for tractors with three-point hitch and PTO
The Jansen TBG-200 is an earth auger that mounts on a tractor's three-point hitch and is driven by its power take-off (PTO). It drills holes for fence posts, piles, carports, and for planting trees and shrubs. It saves the most time on jobs with dozens or hundreds of holes, such as pasture fencing or setting up an orchard.
How to choose a tractor auger
- Hitch: the TBG-200 fits Cat. I and Cat. II three-point hitches. It is an implement for a farm or compact tractor, not for a two-wheel tractor.
- Tractor power: the manufacturer specifies at least 15 hp. Large diameters and hard ground need more.
- PTO: 540 rpm is required. A PTO shaft with guard is included.
- Auger diameter: smaller augers suit posts, larger ones suit piles and planting holes for trees with a root ball.

Delivery and first start
Jansen equipment arrives in transport packaging and you assemble it yourself following the manual. Before first use, fill the gearbox with about 1.2 l of 80W90 oil. Augers are ordered separately. Before drilling, check that there are no cables, pipes or drains underground. Frequently asked questions
Can the TBG-200 be used with a two-wheel tractor?
No. The manufacturer designed it for a Cat. I or II three-point hitch on a tractor with a 540 rpm PTO. Implements for two-wheel tractors are in two-wheel tractor attachments.
Are augers included?
No. The set includes the auger drive with gearbox, the PTO shaft with guard and shear bolt protection. Augers of 150, 225, 300, 450 or 600 mm are ordered separately.
What tractor do I need?
At least 15 hp, a Cat. I or II hitch and a 540 rpm PTO. For 450 and 600 mm augers and heavy clay, a stronger tractor works better.
What protects the gearbox from damage?
A shear bolt. If the auger jams on a stone or root, the bolt shears and disconnects the drive. Keep a few spare bolts at hand.
Does the gearbox need oil?
Yes. Fill it with about 1.2 l of 80W90 gear oil before the first use.
